The Basic Chemistry and Pharmacological Properties of Essential Oils

Modern-day synthesized drugs trace their linage directly to plants but it would be wrong to think that essential oils act like drugs. We’ll compare and contrast essential oils with synthetic drugs to understand their differences before we examine the relationship between an essential oil’s chemistry and it’s pharmacological (drug-like) effects. The goal is to better understand why essential oils demonstrate physiological and psychological effects that help us ward off disease, boost vitality, and find relief from symptoms like insomnia, muscular pain, digestive upset, anxiety, and many other issues.
